Adz are useful tools. It's basically an ax with the edge tilted 90° and is convenient for a lot of different jobs.
The main thing to get right when creating an adz is the shape of the edge, the curve of the metal, and the length of the handle.
Getting any of those wrong will make an awful adz.
This adz was made back in the year 2016 from soft iron, but with a piece of steel forge welled for the edge. Then it was of course hardened and tempered.

Lessons learned
- If I were to make another adz like this I'd forge it a bit shorter.
- Handle should have a stop at the end for a relaxed grip while working.
- Viking age adz heads have very little material so it's hard to fasten the handle well.
