Cleaning bees wax

When the wax is gathered from the hive it contains quite a lot of impurities. This short article describe the process of cleaning that type of wax into clean wax to use for all kinds of crafts.

The process in short:

  1. Find a clean but rugged container for your wax. It should fit into a suitable pot.
  2. Get the wax and chop away pieces fitted into the container.
  3. Pour some water into the pot, then place the container with wax in the pot. This makes the heat in the correct temperature interval for melting wax.
  4. Wait until all the intenden wax has melted. Add more as the wax melts down if you want to.
  5. When all the wax has melted, let it rest. The impurities will sink to the bottom.
  6. Cut the impurities away before melting it for further use.
  7. Repeat with the chopped away dirty pieces until the wax is no longer retrievable from the impurities, then discard the rest.

The process in pictures below. I used a metal container and a regular household pot on my ordinary stove.
