Picture frame with depth
A creative friend of mine gifted me a painting of my house. She'd never been there but draw my house from her imagination from the stories I'd told from the life in the house.

The painting was full of details and I wanted the viewer to get up close and examine the piece of art carefully to get it all. The solution I came up with was to put the canvas in a frame with depth and lighting to attract attention.

The project was fun. I calculated a lot to get all the angles correct and still ended up winging it a bit with a file to get the perfect fit.
First the rolled up piece of fabric got attached to a frame, then I started with the outer frame.

It all started off by planing of a piece of wood so it got thin enough, then adjusting it to shape in all dimensions for the outer frame.
This was hard as it all fell apart unless I held it, and I didn't have four hands. I eventually fixed this by the use of other pieces of wood clamped to the table to hold the pieces in place so I could make them fit, as may be seen on the image below.
When the outer frame was glued up an inner frame was attached to it.
A layer of white paint covers the frame, and a I bought a strip of battery driven led lights and put it inside the frame to light it up from within. It became quite striking.
